Marion Steele is Emeritus Associate Professor, Department of Economics and Finance, University of Guelph. She has published many pieces on housing allowances, including the Canada chapter in Housing Allowances in Comparative Perspective Peter Kemp (ed.). She has published articles on house prices (with Richard Goy) in the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics and the Canadian Journal of Administrative Science, on the dynamics of housing markets, “Conversions, Condominiums and Capital Gains: The Transformation of the Ontario Rental Housing Market” in Urban Studies, and on housing-related tax policy. An article with Jason Dean on renter mobility, using RDC data, is forthcoming in Regional Science and Urban Economics. Papers with co-authors have also been published by the C. D. Howe Institute, the University of Calgary School of Public Policy and the Institute for Research in Public Policy. She has given many presentations to the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, the Canadian Economics Association and other organizations. She has acted as a consultant (with co-investigators) to public and private clients including CMHC, the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Canadian Home Builders’ Association and the City of Toronto.

Her BA (Hon.) degree is from Queen’s University (Economics), and her PhD is from the University of Toronto (Economics).

Elle a œuvré comme consultante (avec des collaborateurs) auprès de clients des secteurs public et privé, notamment la SCHL, le ministère des Affaires municipales et du Logement de l’Ontario, l’Association canadienne des constructeurs d’habitations et la ville de Toronto.

Elle est titulaire d’un BA (avec spécialisation) de l’Université Queen’s et d’un doctorat de l’Université de Toronto (tous deux en économie).
